Moberly Star John Jayne at Junior European Cup, Wroclaw

john rostum poland ECJohn Jayne achieved his very first Junior European Cup success at last weekend’s event in Wroclaw, Poland. Competing in the -100k group with 19 other judoka, John performed with great spirit and determination.

After a bye into the 2nd round, John’s first contest was against SAVYTSKIY from UKRAINE. An ippon victory put him into the quarter final against one of the home judoka, MAJOWSKI from POLOAND. Another ippon victory saw John through to his first European Cup semi final against OLARTE from FRANCE. In a tough contest John was able to produce another ippon victory and set up a final against SCHOENEFELDT from GERMANY.

In another tough encounter, John scored two yuko’s and seemed to be in a comfortable position. Unfortunately a lapse in concentration saw john caught for an ippon and had to settle for the silver medal. John was more than happy with this achievement.
