Moberly Stars at the Midland Area Age Banded Event

Last weekend 5 Moberly Stars made the trip to Walsall to compete in the Midland Area Age Banded event. A very strong event with highly competitive judoka. It was another great event for the Bougoffa brothers, Omar and Ali who took the u38k pre-cadets by storm winning Gold and Silver respectively. Oliver just lost out on a rostrum finish losing in the bronze final also in the u38k. In the u52k, Maddie gained further experience after a very tough day but remains as focused as ever. In the Cadet section, Anna returned to competition after more than a year out with injury, and took a creditable 5th place in the u57k.

Moberly Stars at the London Area Development Event

Excellent first tournament of the year for the Moberly Stars at the London Area Development Event at UEL. Split into 3 sections it was a great opportunity to see the new additions to the team and the step up in level for the newly graded and experienced competitors.
In the red belt section both Isla and Alexander where in scintillating form winning golds in their groups. Malayah was also in gold medal winning form defeating sister Miya in their final. Gold was also won by Alexander’s brother Edward, with excellent silvers for debutants Nils and Zackary. David fought very well to win a bronze.
In the Yellow belts, Luca won another gold with yet another commanding performance, while newly graded yellow belts, Stefan and Kristians found it a lot harder but won a silver and bronze respectively.
In the Orange belts section, novice Cheyenne, finding no-one in the red belt section to compete against stepped up two sections and shocked the team and the crowd with two fantastic wins to claim a magnificent gold. Silvers were also won by Myeisha, Corey and D’mori and a bronze for Maddy after some very hard battles.
