Moberlys Stars at the 2018 National Team Championships

Even as i write this i am in disbelief and awe of the way that the British National Teams Championship is such a rollercoaster of emotions of an event. It is simply my favourite event on the calender. This event brings together the various London area clubs and players and the team spirit is second to none. The coaches promote the ethics of team spirit and togetherness and the players and parents keep that alive. Moberly were represented in the London Area Minors and Pre-Cadet Team by Omar and Ali at u38k, Kyle at u50k and Kamal at u55k. Maddie fought at u57k in the Girls Minors and Pre-cadet team. Alex Kouda and Reuel fought in the Cadet team at u50k and u73k repectively.
As reigning champions the boys Minors and Pre-cadet looked every inch superior with crushing defeats of the Northern, Welsh and Western area teams and a tight contest victory against with the Scottish team. The semi final was won 7-0 against the North West and the final was an exciting encounter against the Northern Home Counties, but a London Area win, 5-2. The boys contributed to some amazing performances and thrilling contests. Maddie played an inportant role in the bronze win for the Girls Minor and Pre-cadet team with some fantastic battling victories. The Cadet and Junior boys team was undone in the pools after two excellent victories over the North and NHC teams, but lost out to the West and Southern Area teams. There was also an emphatic victory for the Senior Mens team, and bronzes for the Senior Women and Cadet Girls. London Area Judo rocks

A big well done to the Moberly stars that fought at this years Kent International event at Medway park this weekend. An excellent 2 day event from Jean Lingham and her team that allows groups that are usually split into sub age categories, to compete in one single age group (under 16). Wining a medal in this event is always a great acheivement as it is such a difficult event. With further categories for Juniors, Seniors and Masters on Sunday.
In section A, Yellow belts, Golds were won by Sheziya (o63k) and Luca (u38k). Parnell was well worthy of his silver medal also at u38k. Kaden (u34k) and Kristians (u42) were unlucky to just miss out on bronze medals.
In section B, Orange and Green belts, Ali and Maddy won excellent bronzes in the u38k and u57k respectively. While Oliver (u38k) Myeisha (u40k), Sacha (u46k) and Dmori (o73k) missed out, but had some great contests.
Section C, Blue and Brown belts the u50k was dominated by the Moberly boys with Kamal winnng gold, defeating Dinari in the final, Kyle winning a great bronze and Alex just being pipped in his bronze final. Luan also won a great bronze in the u60k after an epic semi-final. Omar (u42k) and Daniel (u60k) just missed the medals.
On Sunday, Reuel won the u73k juniors, Micheal won silver in the u73k Seniors and Tyrese won bronze also in u73k. Dominique battled hard for a bronze in the u78k and Richard won a excellent silver in the u90k masters.

Moberly Star Alex Costello at European Veteran Championships 2018

Well done to Moberly’s veteran Alex who fought with great dignity and heart at the European Veteran Championships in Glasgow. He fought in the M5 u100k but lost out in the bronze medal final to the Azerbaijani.
