Moberly Stars at British Schools 2019

Well done to the Moberly Stars representing their various schools at the British Schools Championships at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Gold medal was won by Dinari in the year 10/11 u55k category who made relatively short work of his 4 contests to become British Schools Champion. For Myeisha in the year 8/9 u44k, and Anna in the year 12/13 u57, both were returning to defend titles they won last year. Unfortunately both ended with silver after progressing to their finals with some great judo. For Maddie in the year 8/9 u63k and Kristians in the year 6/7 u46k it was pure determination after early defeats to battle through to win well deserved bronze medals. Dmori also ended with a bronze medal in the year 8/9 u81k following an early defeat which saw him have to withdraw injured.
There was also good experience after some hard fought contests gained for Oliver, Alex, Daniel and Parnell.

Moberly Stars at the 2018 Pre-Cadet and Cadet Championships

Nationals for the Cadets and Pre-cadets was always going to be tough this year and winning a medal was going to be extremely difficult.
The Cadets had the hardest task with most making a first appearance in some of the largest and strongest groups.
Omar was in scintillating form winning gold in the Cadets u42k. It was his third title in 4 years.
It was another to chalk up for experience for Alex in the u50k with 2 unfortunate early loses. In the u55k, last year’s pre-cadet champion Kamal ended in 5th place after 8 amazing contests. For Dinari, Kyle and ‘General’ Lee getting to the crossover was the expected result. In the u60k Luan also ended in a commendable 5th place after 5 hard contests, while Daniel missed the crossover. For Anna after a long injury lay off, a 7th place finish after 5 tough contests was a good result.
More was expected of the Pre-cadets and they delivered. Oliver and Ali were in great form winning through to meet in the final of the u42k, where Oliver won in golden score. It was his 2nd title in 3 years. Liam was undone by some dubious refereeing decisions ending in 7th in the u42k. Corey in the u60k had to respond after an early defeat to win a great bronze medal. For Myeisha in the u40k and Sacha in the u46k both were looking like they would win national medals until nerves seemed to take over and both ended in 5th place. Maddie (u63) and Dmori (o73)gave everything but just missed out in their first national championships.
