Moberly Stars Fun event and NHC Split Grade

Well done to the Moberly stars that took part in events at Moberly and High Wycombe at the weekend.
In a very hot weekend, Mobely celebrated a return to the newly opened Moberly Sports Centre with a fun event for the youngest members of the Moberly family. The fun event with members from clubs run by Moberly coaches saw all participants receive gold trophies in a very friendly atmosphere. It was a great way to return home.

On Sunday at the NHC Split Grade Competition at High Wycombe, Kyle finally defeated his brother Kamal in the final of the u50k blue and brown belt section. Oliver won a bronze in the u55k. Kristians won a silver in the u42k red and yellow belt section. While in the orange and green section, Parnell picked up a well deserved bronze. Mark, Kaden and Dmori just missed the medals but picked up worthwhile experience.

Moberly Stars at Bishops Stortford Teams and Rumble

Well done to the Moberly stars that fought in Bishop Stortford this weekend. Thanks to Nicole Nunn and the Bishop Stortford Judokwai team for another great weekend of events. With a team event on the Saturday and a Red, Yellow and Orange belt rumble on Sunday it is quite a weekend. The Team event on Saturday saw Moberly enter 3 teams in the very unique combined weight event. The Team event was as usual, very competitive and a very high standard. In the red and yellow belt 105k category, Moberly had two teams. Isabella, Isla and Eva had two very hard contests and fought out if their skins showing great team spirit but were unable to progress into the medal contests. Kadan and Parnell in the boys team were a player short in the first contest but still won 2-1. Then the team ‘borrowed’ Luka from Palavani, and they progressed all the way to the final were they were defeated by the team from Palavani! In the Minors and Pre-Cadet team 115k category, Oliver, Ali and Omar showed their experience as they won 3 contests to get to the semi final where some questionable referreeing decisions cost them a place in the final and they had to settle for bronze.
On Sunday Parnell was back at it winning a great silver in the rumble. Kristians also produced some great throws to also win a silver in his category.

Moberlys Stars at the 2018 National Team Championships

Even as i write this i am in disbelief and awe of the way that the British National Teams Championship is such a rollercoaster of emotions of an event. It is simply my favourite event on the calender. This event brings together the various London area clubs and players and the team spirit is second to none. The coaches promote the ethics of team spirit and togetherness and the players and parents keep that alive. Moberly were represented in the London Area Minors and Pre-Cadet Team by Omar and Ali at u38k, Kyle at u50k and Kamal at u55k. Maddie fought at u57k in the Girls Minors and Pre-cadet team. Alex Kouda and Reuel fought in the Cadet team at u50k and u73k repectively.
As reigning champions the boys Minors and Pre-cadet looked every inch superior with crushing defeats of the Northern, Welsh and Western area teams and a tight contest victory against with the Scottish team. The semi final was won 7-0 against the North West and the final was an exciting encounter against the Northern Home Counties, but a London Area win, 5-2. The boys contributed to some amazing performances and thrilling contests. Maddie played an inportant role in the bronze win for the Girls Minor and Pre-cadet team with some fantastic battling victories. The Cadet and Junior boys team was undone in the pools after two excellent victories over the North and NHC teams, but lost out to the West and Southern Area teams. There was also an emphatic victory for the Senior Mens team, and bronzes for the Senior Women and Cadet Girls. London Area Judo rocks

In section A, Yellow belts, Golds were won by Sheziya (o63k) and Luca (u38k). Parnell was well worthy of his silver medal also at u38k. Kaden (u34k) and Kristians (u42) were unlucky to just miss out on bronze medals.
